SAUA Membership

Membership Categories

Any doctor who is a registered medical practitioner within the Republic of South Africa with the Health Professions Council of South Africa is eligible, with the following pre-requisites:

  • Their professional practice should be confined to the practice of the specialty of Urology, in the capacity of a practicing or retired Urologist, registrar, or a career medical officer with the intention of becoming a Urologist, or practising Urology for a
  • Candidates for membership will be elected by majority the Executive Committee of the Group after being duly and seconded in writing by members of the Group.
  • Only full members will be eligible to vote or to be elected to hold office.
  • Every member will remain a member until their membership is terminated by their resignation in writing, addressed to the honorary Secretary.
  • Their membership may be suspended if after one year they have not paid their due subscription.
  • They may be reinstated on payment of arrear subscriptions due, but during the period of suspension they will not retain their vote.
  • Members who are in arrears will have their website access blocked and notified.
  • Penalty fee (set at half of the yearly fee) for rejoining the association with the upfront payment of the full year’s membership fee.
  • Registrars on passing their FCUROL exam, the registrar needs to notify the SAUA on admin@saua.co.za when their registrar contract is finished so that their membership category can be updated.

Private Practice (Full time or part time) – R 8500 per annum which includes:

  • Membership to SAPPF (South African Private Practice Foundation)
  • EAU group membership
  • CPD Vault Storage For Auditing Purposes
  • Access to Urological Guidelines and the SAUA Academy educational content

Private with public service members (Full time or part time) – R 8500 per

Only public service (Full time or part time) – R 3450 per annum which includes:

  • Membership to SAPPF (South African Private Practice Foundation)
  • CPD Vault storage for auditing purposes
  • Access to Urological Guidelines and the SAUA Academy educational content
  • Voluntary EAU membership available at a additional R2300

Registrars – No fees

Trainees in official training posts at the 8 recognised training units in South Africa automatically become members of the SAUA. They will be offered full membership on completion of their training. On passing their FCUROL exam, the registrar needs to notify SAUA on admin@saua.co.za when their registrar contract is finished so that their membership category can be updated.

  • Voluntary EAU membership available at a additional R2300

Associate Members – R 4025 per annum

Associate members, defined as HPCSA registered medical doctors with interest in urology, usually junior doctors working in a urological post and/or in other surgical posts, will need to pay R4025 per year for membership.

Benefits: SAUA Website access and EAU group membership with benefits.

International Membership – R 8500 per annum

For Urologists from neighbouring countries, membership will be considered by the EXCO on an ad hoc basis. Rate as for private member.
