The following prizes and awards are available through the SAUA:
PROF CHRIS HEYNS MEMORIAL MERIT AWARD
Type of Prize / Award:
Merit award for Outstanding Service to the SAUA. An illuminated address and medallion.
How judged:
The award will be judged by the SAUA Executive Committee using the following criteria:
- For outstanding services and value in furthering the interests of Urology in South Africa
- A Member of SAUA considered worthy by their colleagues
- Nominations by SAUA members to the EXCO
- Each nomination shall be signed by two members and submitted with a CV and a motivation
- EXCO has the power to accept or reject the Nomination without supplying reasons

Nominations should be made to the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the SAUA prior to the biennial SAUA congress. Nominations must be made by members of the SAUA to the Secretary of the SAUA. Each nomination shall be signed by two members and submitted with a CV and motivation.

THE KARL STORZ PRIZE
Type of Prize / Award:
Candidates should apply to the secretary of the SAUA at least two weeks before the commencement of the biennial congress. Applicants should include the following:
- Complete curriculum vitae with date of birth as well as date of registration
- Post graduate academic record and qualifications including prizes or medals
- List of publications:
- Journals
- Papers read
- Posters exhibited
- Original research both clinical and/or basic
- Diagnostic or Surgical Innovations contributed
Applicants must be:
- A urologist registered with the HPCSA
- A member of SAUA
- A registered Urologist for less than 10 years
- Younger than 45 years of age
- A South African citizen resident in South Africa
The award can only be won by the same person once and the committee has the right to withhold the award if the applications are not of a suitable standard.
